NANNING - He Guoqiang, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), called forsound and rapid economic and social development during an inspection tour in South China'sGuangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
He, a Standing Committee member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, visitedstate-owned enterprises (SOE), residential communities and rural farms from September 16 to19.
He said the region's SOEs should make reforms in order to enhance their competitiveness andimprove the living standards for their employees, adding that the companies must demonstratecredibility and ensure the quality of their products.
During a trip to a local orange orchard, He encouraged local authorities to increase theirsupport for the development of modern agriculture and increase produce output in the region'sfarms.
Local authorities should make every effort to improve the living conditions for farmers andincrease their incomes, the official said.
He, also head of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, asked local officials tofocus on discipline in order to ensure that local elections proceed smoothly.
An anti-corruption campaign should be properly implemented to ensure economic and socialdevelopment during the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015), He said.
